Phillip was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN, and attended Ivy Tech College. He has worked in the electrical field for 30 years and has experience as a journeyman electrician in residential, commercial and industrial electrical wiring. For the past 17 years, Phillip has worked as a journeyman electrician in hospitals in Indiana.

While attending a healthcare engineering conference, Phillip heard about a hospital that had been flooded and had experienced a complete and disastrous power loss. Having worked for many years as an electrician in hospitals, Phillip knew the consequences that such a loss of power at a hospital could have. With that in mind, he started to explore what could be done to rapidly supply distributed power in an emergency situation, and the result was his design for the Saylor Mobile Power Panel.
